Although both Erin McCluskey and Kevin Verissimo worked only briefly at the job where they met, the benefits proved to be long-term; it brought them together for what turned out to be forever. After the pair began discussing marriage, they visited a jeweler to design an engagement ring.

“I didn’t know when the ring would be finished or where Kevin would propose,” says Erin. “We ended up officially becoming engaged during a quiet night at home. It was private and intimate and exactly how we’d both imagined it.”

Erin and Kevin chose Lakeview Pavilion as their wedding venue after Erin’s mother saw a news feature on the renovation of the property.

“We knew we wanted a winter wedding,” says Erin. “Lakeview Pavilion provided an elegant backdrop for what would become our own winter wonderland for the evening. The first thing we did after booking the space was purchase a collection of pre-lit trees to create an elegant winter ambience and fill the vertical space of the cathedral ceilings.”

Erin envisioned a look that was “rich and wintery, with just a touch of Christmas.” The pair fulfilled the vision with shades of green and white and metallics. She chose a sage tone for the bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen’s ties. The trees twinkled with white lights, faux snow and glitter. Lighted branches lined the aisle during the ceremony, and clear boxes filled with white lights and adorned with gold ribbon added a glow to the cocktail-hour space. While the setting was magical, it was the ceremony that proved the most memorable.

According to Erin, “We were in the moment and focused on the words we were saying. We didn’t expect it to feel as powerful as it did.”

Erin’s mother walked her down the aisle, and the couple lit a candle during the ceremony in memory of her father. A snow machine created a “snowfall” during the newlyweds’ first dance and again during the last song of the night, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

Says Erin, “We wanted to send everyone off in a fun way with thoughts of the upcoming holidays.”
