THE GAMBLE MANSION

Built in 1904 for the wealthy textile merchant Walter C. Baylies, The Gamble Mansion was the home of Mr. Baylies and his children until 1936. The elegant Louis XV ballroom was built in 1912 in time for daughter Charlotte's debutante ball. The elegant Gamble Mansion is located at 5 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston's Back Bay district, near the Boston Garden. It is also the home of the Boston Center for Adult Education which purchased this stunning facility in 1941.
