Tony Hobbs "Sweetpee" has been a drummer for the past twenty years. He also sings lead vocals and background harmony for the existing popular, hip-hop, funk band "World Premier". In the summer of 1981, Antonio attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma., and being one of ten chosen for the scholarship program to enhance his musical abilities. He has performed for several jazz musicians in Boston at various night clubs and for an audience of over three thousand people in Hyannis, Ma. He opened for Donnie Osmond, TKS, Cover Girls and Daryl Hallens. Tony received several write-ups in "Source" and the "Beat" magazines for performing in "World Premier" in 1993. The many bands Tony has performed in as a vocalist and percussionist include "World Premier", the "Dappers" (New England band in 1978-84) and New Friends for five years. He has over seven hundred studio hours working for several local artists. Tony has toured Japan, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Korea where he received the Award of Appreciation for U.S. Military, MRW. In 1993 he co-produced drumming for the Children's Show "Eye on the Sparrow". |
