COONAMESSETT INN

The Coonamessett Inn is located in the pretty, seaside village of Falmouth on Cape Cod. Near sandy beaches, picturesque harbors, galleries, antique shops, and ferries to the islands; all the beauty and adventure the Cape has to offer is yours at the gracious, glorious Coonamessett Inn.

In 1796 America was still in its infancy. George Washington was just finishing out his term as president while John Adams was preparing to take office. The Bill of Rights had just been signed and the Constitution ratified just a few years earlier.

And while the very foundation of our country was being built, a spectacular estate, which would later become the Coonamessett Inn, was under construction on a grassy hill in Falmouth.

Thomas Jones, a preeminent Falmouth citizen, must have admired the view from the knell to the tranquil pond below when he selected this site for his home. For two hundred years, residents, visitors and guests to the property have been admiring this same view.

Not much has changed in 200 years. The original residence, barn, caretaker's quarters and carriage house stand on six acres of meticulously landscaped grounds. Much of the fine interior work -- ballast brick fireplaces and wood paneling -- has retained its original beauty despite the passing of years and changing of hands. The pond, now protected as conservation land, is graced by delicate swans and geese as it must have been in colonial times.

Today, brides and grooms celebrate their marriage in the splendor of this historical gem. Exceptional food and outstanding personal service complement the unique backdrop and make the Coonamessett Inn a very special place for wedding receptions indeed.
